The Stoop was designed to pay tribute to summertime fun in the city. Kids meet their friends on the stoop and play til evening falls. Families and friends host weekend cookouts where elders tell stories about "the good ole days" and the smell of the grill dances in their air. Festivals are aplenty, each capped off with some type of syrupy sweet and sticky frozen treat. Sidewalks, buildings and urban streets don't stifle outdoor experiences, they simply represent a different type of normal and a unique relationship with being out in the open air.   

Scent Notes: Lemongrass, charcoal and cherry. Not cloyingly sweet AT ALL, this contemporary scent is warm, full-bodied, and oh so, tempting.

Candle Details: Each 10oz Black, matte vessel contains 7.5 ounces of wax and custom-blended fragrance, along with sleek wooden wicks. 70-80 hours of burn time each.

This Bright Black Summer Scent series pays tribute to the complex intersections of Blackness and the outdoors. The series offers three candles–Tall Grass, Earthseed, and The Stoop–that tell unique, yet intertwined stories about rural and urban environments; the sustainability of Black farmers and local food systems; collective land ownership and stewardship; environmental justice; and community resilience. 

These candles represent reimagined notions of what outdoor candles could or should be, highlighting lemongrass instead of the typical citronella and showcasing masterful blends that conjure up fresh air,  cookouts, corner stores and days spent in the garden.
